I grew up in a low-income family where going to the doctor was reserved for absolute emergencies. Preventive care was seen as unnecessary, and this belief held truer for aesthetic care.
After moving to the United States, I witnessed a very different system. It was normal to seek care early, and patients expected to be treated with respect and compassion. This made me realize that healthcare should always be proactive, timely, and accessible for everyone.
The major turning point came when my daughter donated her hair to the Adyar Cancer Institute, which was used to create a wig for a terminally ill young girl. Seeing how something as simple as hair could bring out a smile during such a difficult time made me reconsider my viewpoint on aesthetic care.
Looking your best was never about vanity, but about dignity. We get so caught up in our daily struggles that we forget the joy from the little things in life, even though they are the very things that keep us going.
My hope with this clinic is not only to change lives, but to also change perspectives.
